A capsule wardrobe is not about owning less for the sake of it. It is about owning pieces that work together so well that getting dressed stops feeling like a decision. Twelve is a good number to start with: enough for variety, few enough that every piece earns its place.
Start with a colour story
Choose two base neutrals and one accent. At VERANE we lean on camel, charcoal and ivory, with black for evening. When everything shares a palette, almost every top works with every bottom, and twelve pieces quietly become dozens of outfits.
Anchor with tailoring
A well-cut blazer does more work than any other item you own. The Tailored Wool Blazer sits over a fine knit for meetings, over a slip dress for dinner and over a white tank at the weekend. Pair it with a trouser that has real structure, such as our Wide-Leg Trousers, and you have a suit that can also be split up.
Layer in knitwear
Add a turtleneck, a cardigan and one sleeveless knit. Together they cover cool offices, warm afternoons and everything in between, and they layer under jackets without bulk.
Finish with two dresses and one easy set
A bias-cut slip and a knitted midi cover most occasions. A linen set handles days off, travel and slow mornings at home.
Edit before you add
Before buying anything new, ask whether it works with at least three pieces you already own. If it does not, it is probably not part of your capsule. The goal is a wardrobe that feels calm, considered and completely yours.
